It was in January of 2009 when she stepped out of a black SUV onto the snow laden campus that would now be her home. She was nervous, excited, dreading the thought of “The freshman 15” and grateful to finally be where she felt God had called her to be. Semesters went by, she became molded into friendships, some meant to last, others faded into the shadows of hectic schedules and were overcome. She found out her strengths, weaknesses, convictions, and most difficult of all, learned was how to say no. Each year brought with it stresses, joys, fears, challenges, questions, and hopes that sometimes seemed smaller than all it had to fight against, yet with its sister, faith, it was able to keep standing up whenever it got thrown to the ground. All of these things brought her to where she is today. A college senior, sitting in an apartment, facing her last two semesters with a sense of reverent fear, and God-given hope and joy.
Now that you’ve read a brief synopsis of my college career, allow me to introduce myself. Hi, I’m Beth, a 21 year old senior studying Digital Media-Video Production at a small college, blogging about all of the “non-academic” thoughts and interests of an eclectic, deviant, practical-ish college student.
Over the past 4 or 5 years I’ve collected a lot of cool ideas and information on things that you would probably find useful to know. For example, what is good nutrition and can college students have it? How much healthier would a college student be if they chose to live in an apartment, and cook their own food majority of the time? What does a college student need to know about themselves in order to time manage? How difficult is it to become a couponer, and how much could somebody actually save by becoming one? How can a college senior prepare for life after walking across the stage in May?
If you want to come along for the ride and learn about some of the things I’ve discovered throughout my college career it would be my pleasure to share with you all about these things and hopefully much more.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seekme and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.[a] I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile. – Jeremiah 29:11-14
